Dorian Music Festival
Every year, Luther College in Decorah, host the prestigious Dorian Music Festival which showcasas the vocal talent of nearly 1400 students from Iowa,
Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and both North and South Dakota.
The festival usualy takes place in January with great success.
Nordic Festival
Enjoy Scandinavian entertainment, crafts, food, sports and parade at Annual
Nordic Fest in late July.
Bring your family and friends to celebrate "Living Traditions in a New
World" Traditions, new and old, will abound throughout the weekend.
Artisans
will display and demonstrate traditional Scandinavian Folk Art such as rosemaling, woodcarving and more!
You will be able to sample food-fare from centuries past while learning the
recipes so you can renew or start a new culinary tradition in your own
family.
Your whole family will also enjoy the lively dancing, challenging sporting
events, intricate costumes and boundless entertainment.
Yule Tide Music Festival
Every year in December Decorah host the Yule Tide Music Festival. Festive
music, robe choristers, and glowing candlelight capture the wonder and joy
of the Christmas season. Christmas at Luther features the six choirs of
Luther College conducted by Timothy Peter, Weston Noble, Sandra
Peter, and Jennaya Robison. Additional performers include organist William
Kuhlman, the Luther College Symphony Orchestra (Daniel Baldwin, conductor),
and brass instrumentalists.
The Messiah is presented every other year. Soloists will be selected from
the student body, a tradition since 1942. The Luther College Chamber
Orchestra joins the soloists and a select chorus, under the direction of Weston Noble. Friends and alumni who are attending the performance are invited to sing in the Hallelujah, Worthy
is the Lamb, and Amen choruses.
